What keeps a club alive/active?

... ahahaha. Members. I don't mean spammers but definitely people who are active in talking about their interests in the club. ... at least I hope so. haha.... T_T

Haha, I know what you mean. I made a club for Tegaki E, and now I regret it because there's really no fun activities or contests I can do for it.

I've been seeing some pretty weird/stupid clubs lately too... xD

It doesn't matter if the club has lots of contests or activitees. They're not going to go well unless the club has members that are willing to participate. C:

It's the members. Unfortunately, when most people hit the join button they're hoping for more attention when they do so. I mean, they end up on the front page for a bit, and anything art- wise they do ends up on the front page as well. So if you see in- active clubs, it's because of an extreme lack of interest among the members.

Sadly, most of the clubs I'm a part of don't even have captains, so nothing happens in them...
(Well, when you first join a club your icon sits on the list until people bump you off... and if clubs don't get a lot of "fanart" for them then someone's art could be occupying that space for a while. xP)

ah really? like is it run by clubot? I usually try to assign presidents to those seeing as yes, no one is able to post blogs and important stuff xD maybe you can show me some of them?

Actually, I commented on the clubot page because other people were asking to be president of clubs that way. I noticed that the Case Closed, Disgaea, and the Legend of Zelda clubs are run by the Clubot. If you could, actually, could I be the president of at least the Disgaea fanclub? All of the ones I listed are the Official ones, I believe.

I'd say members because I think I at least try with my Minekura club by posting news and stuff and I found a few fans and asked them to join, and I try discussions but I guess I fail. But I don't regret making it because I love her so much *u* but I guess it depends how popular the fandom is. OTL

I think ultimately its the members that make the club. If people aren't being active or trying to start conversations with one another or asking questions on forums, etc. then it doesn't really go anywhere

I hate it when there's a club with over 100 people and nobody's doing anything

Without them, it's just a total flop

I have yet to type up any blogs, or start any contests for my club. But people still join, and I think it's only really to support, and have a place to put their fanart. (Because it's a pairing club )

Members. Big surprise. But also the mods. If a club doesn't blog I forget to check the forums. (I'm a bad mod) But it's also a pain to have to click the clubs to see what's going on in the forums. And I find members start a lot of fun forums but if there's no blogging I forget to check the forums.

Also the point of the club. I'm not very into the fandom clubs but I love the random ones. It's a lot of fun talking about non-anime/manga/whatever but being able to throw in anime references, or just be geeky. I love how this site attracts the anime/manga/video games and ext but we all talk about everything. Wow. Off topic.

It's the members and fun mods.

I'm the worse mod in existence. I'm not the pushy 'pay attention to my club' type so if no one does anything...well neither do I. And clubbot can't really do anything. Maybe he'll evolve in a thousand years like in the movies. Plus I hate hate hate when there's a clubbot and a non clubbot club for the same thing. Ahem. Maybe I shouldn't be saying that. Yup.

The fandom ones have a major flaw. An anime/manga/video game is only popular for so long. Sure I love Bleach right now, but in a few months who knows. And the popular anime right now is of course going to have more members then the anime that is truly a classic.

Ya the blogs are messed up but I noticed a lot of clubs are putting their names in the updates so at least I know what club to go to. Oh well. Eddz can enjoy his vacation.

unfortunately my mods are either lazy peices of fat or mostly inactive. ouO;;

so it's pretty much just me,
the 4 or 5 people who actually comment,
and 40 other people who do nothing. :c

What's the point of having a club if members aren't going to participate? A club is there to gather people of the same interest. The members keep the club alive, and it tends to be the members that ultimately mutate the club to involve contests and such, to fit their needs.

I'd imagine that having a club with devoted members is a good foundation.
You need good club leaders and event organizers that can run things efficiently, and effectively, as well as keep up with the needs of the members.
Club events, contests, get-togethers, and good relationships between members is really what keeps a club alive.
